About GNB

The mission of Greater New Birth Church is to Produce Empowered Christians who will Reproduce Empowered Christians.

Our History

Greater New Birth Church has been a pillar of the Milwaukee community for over 40 years. At its beginnings, GNB was located in the inner city of Milwaukee and is experiencing growth on a tremendous scale. What started as a God-seeking ministry has evolved into a God-believing movement, and His promises have been made manifest on several levels throughout Greater New Birth Church.

Originally located at 2200 W. Center Street, under the leadership of Bishop R. J. Burt and Pastor Patricia Burt membership increased exponentially. In March of 2002, the GNB family celebrated the unveiling of its new sanctuary at 2207 W. Center. This proved to be just the beginning for Greater New Birth Church. Soon after moving into the new sanctuary, it became time to expand yet again.

Greater New Birth Church moved to 8237 W. Silver Spring less than a decade later. This move prompted the Capital Campaign, in which the members of the church work to develop this site debt free. The Greater New Birth Campus holds a 5000-seat sanctuary, fellowship hall, 200 seat chapel, administrative offices, and the Family Life Center. The Family Life Center is home to classrooms, event space, and areas for members of the church and members of the Milwaukee community. The Family Life Center is also the home of the GNB Warming Center, where we serve upwards of 50 people during the brisk Milwaukee Winters.

Greater New Birth is a church after the heart of God. The Vision for the Greater New Birth Church is to see thousands of souls born into the body of Christ in accordance with scripture found in St. Luke 4:18, “The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”

Greater New Birth Operates under this belief, and continues to keep God first while serving the needs of members and the Milwaukee Community through the 7 goals of ministry:
